Panhandlin'

As I've undoubtedly written many times before, there's just something about the idea of the West that I can't seem to forget. The stories of Native American tribes, settlers, traders and everything else that went into the construct of this symbolic notion are all from a century ago. Yet somehow I can feel the optimism of the settlers and the disappoint of the natives in the wide open spaces and landmarks that dominate the western half of Nebraska and beyond. All of this draws me in, time and time again, and makes me miss it when I'm away for too long.

Here are three images from my fiance, Kate, and I's travels to Ogallala and Scottsbluff over this past weekend...
